Amidst continuing health and safety concerns due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Lander Athletics has decided to postpone the 3rd annual Emerald Ink & Stitches The Drop. Plans are being made for the event scheduled for Friday, August 28 at Dolny Stadium at the Jeff May Complex to be rescheduled for the spring of 2021. This announcement will come at a later date.
"With the information available to us today regarding the continued spread of the virus, we simply believe postponing 'The Drop' provides us with the best opportunity to provide an environment for the event that meets our requirements for safety, while maintaining the standard set from the previous two events of an entertaining and exciting atmosphere for everyone", said athletic director Brian Reese. "We are grateful for our dedicated supporters and committed to providing a safe and fun event at a later date."
Lander Athletics will continue to monitor information regarding COVID-19 and follow any updated guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Office of the Governor of South Carolina, and Lander University.
Since 2018, The Drop has raised over $140,000 directly benefiting Lander student-athletes and sports programs.
